Scientist | Engineer | Photographer
The intersection of Biological Insight, Engineering Precision, and Artistic Instinct.
My background is unique in the field of underwater photography. I spent my 20s as a rock musician, honing my sense of rhythm and composition. I began diving at age 30, bringing that artistic foundation to the ocean.
For me, pressing the shutter is no different from striking a guitar chord on stage.
Whether in a rehearsal studio or a live concert, the most powerful moments in music always come from Improvisation. It is a real-time, unrepeatable experience of creation.
This creative pulse continues underwater.
As a Scientist and Engineer, I approach every dive with rigorous planning—calculating tides, lighting, and marine behavior. This is like writing the score or rehearsing the structure.
But once I am beneath the surface, faced with the unpredictable currents and wild marine life, I am improvising.
My most successful works are rarely the result of a rigid script, but rather a spontaneous "Jam Session" with nature. In that fleeting moment, technology recedes, instinct takes over, and I compose a visual tune that can never be played the same way twice.
